How did we get our name?

Many have asked the question, how did you choose the name "Born2Serve" for your ministry, and why the number 2 instead of "to".  No, not really, but I will share it with you anyway, that is if you continue reading this.

It is easily thought in my head and heart, but may prove to be difficult to put on paper and describe, however I will make that attempt.

The Lord planted the thought in my head, when I first heard Billy Kelly sing the song "Born to Serve The Lord" from his CD, Favorites Vol. II.   That song stuck in my heart for weeks to come.  In all my devotions, readings and studying I kept hearing that theme ringing out loud. 

I thought within myself, yes we were born to serve our Lord, our Saviour.  Of course, that only makes sense, what more could there be.

However as my studies continued, I began to think more about the birth, the new birth.  

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Cor 5:17

being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Rom 15:16

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;  Titus 3:5

Rightfully speaking, we were born the first time (our physical birth) to serve the Lord.  For God created us to worship Him and serve Him.   and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.  - Ps 102:18 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:  Ex 34:14

But it was not until the 2nd time that I was born that I had a desire to serve Him.  A desire put there by God the Father, for the Holy Spirit was now indwelling within me. but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.1 Thess 4:8 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.  2 Tim 1:14

I believe that this song sums up my thoughts and most importantly the Teaching of the Word of God as to why we were born to serve the Lord.

Yes indeed, I don't have much at all to offer, but with what He has provided me with,  I will serve the Lord.  I was born a 2nd time to serve my Creator, my Master, my Lord, my King and my Saviour.

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.  - Deut 6:5

And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,  - Deut 11:13

to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways;  - Deut 19:9

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:   - Ps 97:10

I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.  Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.  - Ps 116:1-2


And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  - Mark 12:30

After all, it's His anyway.

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
